Disciplinary & Grievance Procedures

Our Employment solicitors advise both employers and employees in relation to disciplinary and grievance procedures.

How we can help

As an employer it is your duty to have clear and concise disciplinary and grievance procedures for your employees which follow the ACAS code of practice.

It is not uncommon for businesses and organisations to encounter staff with performance issues, ill health or staff who commit minor or serious breaches of the business or organisation rules.

It is also not uncommon for employees to experience problems or have concerns, whether minor or otherwise, during their employment or in the workplace generally.

Our Employment lawyers will ensure that businesses or organisations have a comprehensive disciplinary and grievance procedure to ensure legal compliance and will draft such policies where required. We can provide detailed advice and guidance in relation to the practical implications of both procedures in specific situations and for both employers and employees.

We carry out investigations on behalf of employers and can even be there in person to take over the whole process, including an appeal process, should this be required for sensitive or particularly difficult matters.

Having appropriate policies and procedures in place, and acting in accordance with those policies and procedures, can prevent unnecessary exposure to tribunal proceedings. Where tribunal proceedings are instigated, we act for both employers and employees in dealing with such claims and settlement where appropriate.
