Management of Affairs

Our Personal Legal Services solicitors advise upon the management of affairs of individuals who lack mental capacity including in relation to care, finances and health.

How we can help

You may be concerned about your ongoing or future care, or the management of your affairs generally, as you get older, or perhaps you are concerned for the welfare of a friend or relative.

Our Personal Legal Services lawyers will assist you with:
  • Writing a Will, creating, managing or winding up trusts and protecting assets against care home fees.
  • Preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney for Health and Welfare or Property and Financial Affairs, or both.
  • The provision of advice for your Attorneys dealing with the management of your assets, savings, investments or property.
  • Providing the options available if a relative has lost mental capacity, including assisting with Court of Protection Applications if appropriate.
  • Advice concerning the potential benefits and continuing care funding available when you or a loved one moves into a care home or when you or your loved one requires additional care at home.
  • Reviewing and advising upon care home contracts.
In most circumstances, the management of your assets, savings, investments or property are best dealt with by a close friend or relative but in certain circumstances or where this is not possible or appropriate, our Personal Legal Services lawyers assist with these tasks on your behalf as professional Attorneys or otherwise. Our Directors regularly act in such capacities.  Our Personal Legal Services lawyers will provide home, care home, hospital and hospice visits whilst undertaking the management of your or your loved one’s affairs.
